EC directs governmental parties to halt seeking voters' details 'under guise of surveys'
The Election Commission of India (ECI) took "serious presumption of activities by governmental parties and candidates seeking details of voters nether the guise of assorted surveys for their projected beneficiary schemes". The canvass assemblage termed specified activities arsenic "corrupt signifier of bribery nether Section 123(1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951".
The EC noted: “Some governmental parties and candidates person been engaging successful activities that blur the lines betwixt morganatic surveys and partisan efforts to registry individuals for post-election beneficiary-oriented schemes."
